Sengal’s Société Nationale d’Edition de Documents Administratifs et d’Identification (SENDAI) has awarded Zetes a contract to produce the country with biometric visas. The initiative to do so will be undertaken via 66 fixed biometric enrollment stations throughout the country all featuring two Lumidigm V-Series fingerprint sensors.
The new secure documents will integrate photographic, biographic, signature and, of course, biometric data, all captured at the terminals. The contract will see Zetes providing an estimated 300,000 visas per year over the five years that the agreement covers and may be paid for via an online platform that has been set up by the company’s subsidiary FasTrace.
Speaking to Lumidigm’s offering, supplying the technology that will be capturing the biometric data, the biometric solutions provider’s vice president of sales in Northa America, Europe and Australia, Bill Spence, commented: “This is the perfect application to take full advantage of our technology’s benefits and see an immediate higher level of customer satisfaction and return on investment.”
The technology Spence is talking about is designed specifically for mass enrollment situations like this, since the V-Series sensors use Lumidigm’s multispectral imaging, which captures not only the surface layer of a fingrprint, but also the sub-surface, allowing for dirty, old or scarred prints to be scanned and recognized with a great deal of accuracy, even in outdoor weather conditions. Lumidigm’s sensors are therefore versatile, finding themselves on ATMs, physical access terminals and eventually (based on what the company demonstrated at this year’s Biometric Consortium Conference) cars and transport trucks for access control and fleet management.
