Precise Biometrics has licensed its biometric algorithm software to a Taiwan-based integrated circuit developer. With the agreement, MStar Semiconductor can now build fingerprint sensors running on Precise BioMatch Mobile.
It’s the same technology that has helped to power the biometric scanning capabilities of a wide range of smartphones, very often via sensors made by Fingerprint Cards, Precise Biometrics’ longtime ally in the mobile biometrics market. The two have both risen to prominence with the booming mobile biometrics market, with one result being that Precise Biometrics has been more active lately in diversifying its portfolio of licensing partners.
Commenting in a statement, Precise Biometrics CEO Håkan Persson called Mstar “a prestigious company in the field of touch panel IC,” adding that the agreement “further strengthens our local presence in Asia and our position as the leading supplier of fingerprint software.”
The deal consisted of an unspecified initial fixed fee, with further licensing royalty revenues due to Precise Biometrics based on sales of MStar sensors employing Precise BioMatch Mobile.
