Neurotechnology’s Face Verification system is now being used by MSC Cruises, a major European cruise line.
Integrated within the MSC for Me mobile application and MSC web portal, the biometric technology aids in the pre-enrollment photo capture process for passengers. Leveraging the Neurotechnology Face Verification SDK and Web Service, the system captures and stores passengers’ photos for security purposes throughout their cruise.
The Face Verification system automates the process of capturing guests’ photos during pre-cruise check-in using their personal devices. Passengers’ photos are saved in MSC Cruises’ onboard systems, ensuring that the images meet the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards defined in ISO 19794-5. This means they are high-quality, compliant images suitable for embarkation operations, making passengers easily recognizable by the crew.
Neurotechnology’s software system ensures optimal quality by requiring passengers to look directly at the camera, without any obstructions like hats or sunglasses.
“This new feature embedded in our digital channels, the MSC for Me App and MSC website, further elevates the customer experience of our guests by ensuring an even smoother and faster embarkation process,” said MSC Cruises’ Chief Digital Technology Officer, Luca Pronzati. “The solution provided by Neurotechnology represents an incremental step towards the compliance of international maritime and cruise regulations on security standards, only possible through the partnership set up with the Neurotechnology team and their commitment towards the end result.”
In addition to its recent collaboration with MSC Cruises, Neurotechnology has been actively enhancing its biometric solutions portfolio. In April, its SentiVeillance product line was updated to version 9.1, incorporating MegaMatcher 13.1 algorithms and new features like live event tracking and Intel GPU support. The month before that, Neurotechnology’s SentiVeillance system was integrated into Plovdiv, Bulgaria’s parking monitoring system, enhancing real-time license plate recognition.
Earlier this year, Neurotechnology’s fingerprint recognition technology regained first place in the NIST PFT III evaluation, underscoring the firm’s leadership in biometric innovation.
