MorphoTrust’s dedication to security extends beyond the sophistication of its technologies, with a new certification acknowledging the high security standards applied to the company’s production facilities as well. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has given MorphoTrust USA (Safran) the ISO 14298 certification for its driver license production facilities, acknowledging the high-level security standards in place.
According to MorphoTrust, the company produces 80 percent of America’s driver licenses, making the security of its facilities all the more important. And as a major provider of secuirty solutions, often for government deployments, MorphoTrust is all the more interested in ensuring that its facilities are secure. The new ISO certification offers great assurance that this is indeed the case; MorphoTrust is now the first ID manufacturer in the US to receive ISO 14298, which relates to the highest possible security specifications for the printing systems in use at the company’s facilities.
In a statement, MorphoTrust USA Chief Privacy Officer Dr. James Kottas said that the protection of “citizens’ privacy and personally identifiable information is integral to the work we do in producing secure documents like driver licenses,” adding that “the ISO certification is a demonstration of MorphoTrust’s continuing commitment to be the top experts in secure credential production in the United States.”
MorphoTrust has a strong track record in this area, having achieved a major NASPO certification for one of its credential production sites back in 2013. Indeed, by now the company is so well trusted by the US government that it has recently been tapped to develop the technology for biometric mobile driver’s licenses – potentially the next big step forward in secure, government-issued credentials.
