MorphoBIS Ascends to the Morpho Cloud

MorphoTrak (Safran) has launched its Morpho Cloud IaaS (Identificiation-as-a-Service) platform. The company announced the launch at this week’s Florida International Association for Identification (FDIAI).

The multimodal platform is essentially a cloud service for MorphoBIS, Morpho’s Biometric Identification Solution. The new platform is hosted on Microsoft Azure Government, another cloud platform designed specifically to service the US government. That’s important, because MorphoBIS is used by American law enforcement agencies, from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to, more recently, the Crime Laboratory of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

As such, Microsoft Azure Government – and by extension Morpho Cloud – adhere to the FBI’s CJIS Security Policy, and comply with “the stringent security standards for storage, transmission, monitoring, and recovery of digital information,” as MorphoTrak put it in a press release. The whole platform is hosted on American soil in synced data centers, each of which is able to take over data management in the event that one shuts down due to some kind of technical failure.

Bringing MorphoBIS into the cloud is a natural development, fitting a larger trend of data migration across a variety of sectors, and could help MorphoTrak to further promote its MorphoBIS solutions to government entities. It’s also a big win for Microsoft, whose Azure line of cloud solutions also extends to the burgeoning Internet of Things.
