Morpho (Safran) has brought its selfie-based solution for mobile authentication to GSMA Mobile Connect.
The latter is a digital identity solution that was launched in March of 2015, an effort that Morpho has supported from the beginning. While it has traditionally relied upon PINs for mobile user authentication, Morpho is now introducing a biometric authentication factor with its facial recognition system, which leverages a mobile device’s camera to scan a user’s face. Adding to its credibility is the fact that the solution received FIDO Certification last month.
Commenting on the GSMA Mobile Connect integration in a statement, Morpho CEO Anne Bouverot explained that combining “FIDO Certified selfie checks and a Mobile Connect identity seemed to us to be a logical step, as both FIDO and Mobile Connect address the same challenge: easier, safer online authentication.”
Morpho plans to demonstrate the solution at next week’s Mobile World Congress, alongside a range of other Morpho mobile solutions.
