Morpho Lends Tech to Aadhaar Hackathon

India is hosting a two-day hackathon for its Aadhaar program, and Morpho (Safran) is lending a hand. The biometrics company is providing a biometric sensor to help participating developers.

Aadhaar is the massive national project to build a biometric citizen registry through which a number of services and activities can be administered. The Aadhaar Hackathon is meant to get developers working on new applications using the Aadhaar architecture, with qualifying participants invited to work on projects in the categories of Healthcare, Financial Services, Payments, Government Benefits, and others. Developers who qualify to participate will have access to the Aadhaar APIs in the areas of OTP authentication, biometric eKYC, biometric authentication, and others.

Morpho is, of course, very capable when it comes to these kinds of biometric projects. A leader in NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) testing, the company is also the driving force (via subsidiary MorphoTrust) behind the TSA PreCheck biometric traveler screening program in America. The company has also been heavily involved in the Aadhaar project since August of 2010.
