“… the Kiosk coordinates and conducts all the alcohol screening for the County thereby freeing up deputies for higher-value work.” – Patrick McKinney, General Manager, Precision Kiosk Technologies
The use of automated breathalyzer kiosks for court-mandated alcohol screening continues to spread, with Minneapolis-based Precision Kiosk Technologies playing a key role in the state of Wisconsin.
This past spring, Wisconsin’s Iowa County became the fifth in the state to embrace Precision’s AB Kiosk solution, which uses fingerprint scanning to ensure that the correct individual is being assessed. Now, Precision says that the Sheriff’s Offices in Lafayette and Waupaca Counties have also opted to use its automated breathalyzer solutions.
With authorities in the counties of Door, Portage, Racine, and St. Croix also now using the technology, Precision says that its kiosks have performed 50,000 breathalyzer tests since the start of 2018. And they could do more, with the company asserting that its automated kiosks are capable of scanning up to 40 individuals per hour without any need for supervision.
In a statement announcing the expansion to Lafayette and Waupaca Counties, Precision Kiosk Technologies general manager Patrick McKinney emphasized the important role that his firm’s kiosks can play in assisting law enforcement authorities. “The AB Kiosk increases the safety of Wisconsin communities by ensuring that offenders complete the terms of their work release or probation programs,” he said. “In addition, the Kiosk coordinates and conducts all the alcohol screening for the County thereby freeing up deputies for higher-value work.”
Precision Kiosk Technologies is one of a small handful of solutions providers operating in this market, which appears to be growing as more law enforcement authorities come to recognize the benefits of biometrics-enabled automation.
