The Money20/20 Europe conference is moving to Amsterdam next year, organizers have announced.
The move is primarily aimed at accommodating growth. Money20/20 Europe launched last year in Copenhagen, bringing almost 4,000 visitors to the Bella Center, and organizers appear to be expecting an even bigger number for this year’s event. Amsterdam’s RAI venue offers a capacity of just under 13,000.
As Money20/20 Managing Director Tracey Davies explained in a statement announcing the venue change, it’s “a key move for us to accommodate the thousands of delegates, partners and hundreds of exhibitors who see this event as the essential date in their diaries.”
Like Copenhagen, Amsterdam also offers a welcoming environment in the larger sense. Commenting on the plans, Amsterdam Deputy Mayor Kajsa Ollongren asserted, “Our city has long been a pioneer in financial innovation and that tradition is still thriving as we are quickly developing into one of the world’s leading hubs for FinTech.” Ollongren added that Money20/20 will “further boost that development.”
The event is certainly attracting some exciting talent from the corporate world, with executives from Visa, HSBC, BioConnect, and FacePhi lined up to speak at Money20/20 Europe’s FinTech biometrics panel alone.
