Mobile capture and identity solutions provider Mitek is showing off the new biometric capabilities of its Photo Verify ID verification system at the Money 20/20 conference in Las Vegas this week.
Its cloud-based ID verification system now sports facial recognition capabilities, allowing it to instantly authenticate a mobile user against her official ID document. It’s a major new functionality aimed at dramatically reducing risk for businesses seeking to maximize mobile acquisition and conversion. Combined with Mitek’s Strong ID system, which can recognize thousands of kinds of official ID documentation from around the world, and given consumers’ growing interest in mobile commerce, it could prove to be an appealing proposition to a number of companies.
The new functionality is the product of Mitek’s acquisition of IDchecker this past summer. The multimillion dollar deal was clearly perceived as a worthwhile investment at the time, and now that Mitek is ready to demonstrate its new system at Money 20/20, it could really pay off.
