The head of security for one of the most important companies in modern history has now joined the advisory board of Alcatraz AI.
Dean Geribo became Head of Corporate Security for Moderna in August of 2020 – a critical time for one of the biggest vaccine makers during the pandemic – and continues to oversee the company’s physical and technical security even as he serves on the advisory boards of firms including HiveWatch, RaySecur, and now Alcatraz AI.
Alcatraz, meanwhile, is providing biometric security for Moderna, in the form of its flagship facial recognition system, The Rock. Moderna is piloting the solution for access control, and is expected to proceed with a wider rollout across its facilities in the coming months.
It’s a solution that Geribo is clearly excited about, calling it a “game changer” in enterprise security.
“Both the ease in which the Rock can be deployed and the sensitivity of the devices make it best-in-class, which is why I wanted to join Alcatraz AI as an advisor,” he said. “The team is phenomenal, and understands the needs and opportunities within the access control segment and are creating a platform to scale with the industry.”
Bringing a high-profile advocate onto the advisory board while establishing a partnership with one of the biggest names in pharmaceuticals should help to further accelerate Alcatraz AI’s expansion efforts, which are being realized both geographically and across different sectors. Calling Geribo “a tremendous asset”, CEO Tina D’Agostin asserted, “With his extensive background in corporate security and insider threat assessment, his years of experience will help advance our mission to accelerate the adoption of facial authentication and AI-based security to create safer spaces in Life Sciences.”
Alcatraz’s The Rock solution was named one of Innovation & Tech Today’s “Top 50 Most Innovative Products” last year. Alcatraz added a new remote onboarding capability to the platform earlier this year, enabling organizations to let authorized individuals register their biometrics using a smartphone before arriving at a given facility.
