MEXC Partners With Sumsub to Strengthen Crypto Compliance Against AI-Driven Fraud

Cryptocurrency exchange MEXC has partnered with verification and fraud prevention provider Sumsub to integrate biometric identity checks and AI-powered anti-fraud tools across its global operations.

The partnership adds document verification, biometric liveness detection, proof-of-address checks, database validation, and source-of-funds checks to MEXC’s compliance infrastructure. The integration is designed to counter AI-driven identity fraud, including deepfake impersonation attempts targeting remote onboarding processes.

Under the agreement, MEXC will deploy Sumsub’s verification suite for know-your-customer (KYC) procedures, moving beyond one-time onboarding checks to continuous identity assurance across the user lifecycle. The system includes advanced document analysis and risk-based workflows that adapt to individual user behavior patterns.

Sumsub, which recently integrated ComplyAdvantage AI for enhanced AML screening, works with eight of the ten largest global crypto exchanges. The company’s latest Identity Fraud Report found that multi-step fraud attacks powered by AI increased 180 percent year-on-year globally in 2025.

“As fraud tactics become increasingly sophisticated, strengthening how platforms verify users is no longer optional,” said Vugar Usi, Chief Operating Officer of MEXC. The Seychelles-based exchange serves more than 40 million users across over 170 markets.

Ilya Brovin, Chief Growth Officer at Sumsub, said the crypto sector is entering a regulated maturity phase where verification must operate as a continuous, adaptive layer. “By combining automation with robust controls and real-time risk signals, platforms like MEXC can stay ahead of emerging threats while maintaining the seamless experience users expect,” Brovin said.

The integration covers source-of-funds checks and intelligent risk-based workflows in addition to standard KYC procedures, reflecting growing regulatory expectations for adaptive fraud detection in the digital asset sector.
