Meta Earth has officially launched ME Network v2.0, a modular blockchain infrastructure designed to support a wide range of Web3 applications and a decentralized Unconditional Basic Income (UBI) system. The launch was announced at TOKEN2049 in Dubai, where the company also served as a platinum sponsor. The update marks a new phase in Meta Earth’s effort to create a global identity and income framework through decentralized technology.
Decentralized Identity and Global Incentives
At the core of the platform is ME ID, a decentralized identity protocol that has surpassed 1 million verified users across more than 40 countries and regions. The system uses zero-knowledge proofs to support privacy-preserving verification under a “one person, one ID” structure, which is intended to prevent fraud and ensure equitable participation. Each verified user receives one permanently staked MEC token, which generates daily staking profits and monthly dividends from the platform’s treasury. The UBI mechanism is designed to provide long-term rewards, with a maximum advertised Annual Percentage Yield of 145 percent.
ME Network’s incentive program, launched on May 1, 2025, will run through April 30, 2026. It includes daily activity rewards, monthly treasury-based dividends, and referral-based node rewards. These policies are supported by a network structure consisting of over 200 regional zone nodes and more than 100 community organizers known as Navigators, who are responsible for community engagement and user onboarding.
The MEC token system features a total supply of 20 billion tokens, with a halving-based emission schedule and a dual-token model separating permanently staked and circulating tokens. This structure is intended to ensure long-term sustainability of the UBI mechanism while supporting liquidity and exchange functionality across DeFi platforms.
Technical Architecture and Governance
ME Network’s modular blockchain is built using a layered architecture that includes ME-Hub for consensus, RollApps for application deployment, and ME-DA for decentralized asset management. The open-source ME SDK is scheduled for release later in 2025 to enable permissionless development of custom decentralized applications. The move is intended to support broader participation in the network’s evolution, with a focus on scalability and interoperability.
“Meta Earth isn’t just a blockchain—it’s our vision for a Web3 future where users own their systems,” said Daniel Maddern, Chief Technology Officer at Meta Earth. Founder Patrick Oerer echoed this sentiment in earlier coverage, stating, “Meta Earth is not just a platform. It is a collaborative initiative shaped by a global community.”
The platform also incorporates low-carbon principles and supports activities aligned with the green digital economy. Its governance model emphasizes transparency, community voting, and co-creation. Meta Earth’s leadership team includes Daniel Maddern (CTO), Patrick Oerer (Founder), and Chief Strategy Officer Sevi, who collectively oversee the network’s development and strategic direction.
The Dubai launch event featured over 300 industry participants, influencers, and media partners, and included airdrop campaigns and community onboarding initiatives. While the platform’s reward structure and tokenomics are ambitious, independent evaluations of its sustainability and adoption will depend on continued developer engagement and user retention as the ecosystem grows.
