Mexico-based beverage bottler FEMSA has contracted ImageWare Systems’ biometric identity management technology on a paid trial basis. It’s going to use ImageWare’s multimodal CloudID authentication system in a pilot project starting this May.
CloudID (fully titled GoCloudID Software-as-a-Service) is based on ImageWare’s Biometric Engine and allows for the identification and matching of individuals via biometric scanning stations. FEMSA, the world’s biggest franchise Coca-Cola product bottler, aims to use the technology for credentialing and access control; and given that the system is already being used by state authorities to issue driver licences in Baja California, it has a level of credibility suggesting that FEMSA will likely opt to expand its use when its trial project concludes.
Commenting in a statement, ImageWare CEO Jim Miller said the ImageWare team is “honored to be selected by FEMSA to validate the technology.” The deal complements other promising agreements into which ImageWare has recently entered, and may figure into any future outlook comments that could be made in its corporate update on May 10th.
