Together with SEF, the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service, Vision-Box has significantly expanded its biometric passenger screening program at the Lisbon International Airport.
Rebranded RAPID4ALL, the system uses facial recognition to expedite passenger processing for travelers possessing e-passports. Previously, the service was available exclusively to citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and Switzerland; and now, it’s also available to citizens in nine additional countries beyond the continent: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, the US, and Venezuela.
It’s an increasingly popular system. RAPID4ALL has already been used by almost two million travelers, and Vision-Box says it saw a 61 percent increase in use over the last year. Now, it’s set to gain even more momentum.
Moreover, with the number of visitors entering the Schengen zone expected to double by 2025, and Portuguese authorities working with Vision-Box to test out member countries’ proposed Smart Border Initiative, the company’s technology could see even more impressive expansions in the years to come.
