Lenovo has launched its latest handset, the ZUK Z2, and like the previous smartphones in the ZUK line it sports a Fingerprint Cards (FPC) touch fingerprint sensor. The Lenovo ZUK Z2 features an FPC1155 sensor, working together with Precise BioMatch Mobile software courtesy of Precise Biometrics.
The FPC1155 is familiar to Lenovo, who used the touch sensor on its recently launched ZUK Z2 Pro, as well as last year’s ZUK Z1 handset. The integration announced today by Fingerprint Cards should therefore not come as much of a surprise, and stands as the latest in a long legacy of smartphone launches it has shared with Precise Biometrics.
Fingerprint Cards, through handset launches like this one, has become the world leader in smartphone fingerprint sensor integrations—an achievement that led to the company having the best performing European stock in 2015. As FPC smartphone integrations continue to be announced along with the launches of new handsets, the company is also expanding its reach. The company has recently been posturing itself through various partnerships to attack the smart card biometrics and industrial Internet of Things markets—two highly sought after frontiers for sensor manufacturers.
