“… the Lenovo Yoga 910 laptop will leverage the biometric security of Windows Hello.”
Lenovo has announced a few new computing devices at this week’s IFA 2016, and they all feature Windows 10.
While the new Lenovo Yoga Book and the Lenovo Miix 510 will be able to take advantage of Windows Ink with their stylus functionality, the Lenovo Yoga 910 laptop will leverage the biometric security of Windows Hello. It features a built-in fingerprint scanner, allowing users to sign in easily and securely.
It’s another example of Lenovo’s apparently growing interest in biometric technology, with the company having partnered with Synaptics to bring fingerprint sensors to its ThinkPad product line earlier this year, and more recently having launched a spinoff company that will explore biometric authentication.
It’s also an encouraging example of how hardware OEMs are starting to take advantage of Windows Hello’s biometric security. While the system’s capabilities are considerable, many of the devices running Windows 10 don’t feature the biometric sensors necessary to leverage such security. But as Lenovo is demonstrating, baked-in biometric hardware is starting to emerge to complement the USB fingerprint reader solutions currently available.
