Zwipe is continuing to build its customer base in the Middle East. The company’s latest client is Credit Libanais, a bank based in Lebanon that counts three other banks as affiliates.
Credit Libanais is partnering with Zwipe in an effort to bring biometric payment cards to its own customers. The cards will feature Zwipe’s Pay ONE fingerprint technology, and will be introduced with a pilot program ahead of a full commercial launch. Zwipe will provide ongoing support throughout the pilot phase to help the bank deliver a card that meets the expectations of customers and improves their banking experience.
In that regard, Zwipe and Credit Libanais will take customer feedback into account during the initial trial. The cards will enable secure contactless payments at the point of sale, and are therefore cleaner than legacy PIN cards during the pandemic. Credit Libanais is partnered with both Visa and Mastercard, and is hoping that the new biometric cards will make it easier to acquire and retain new customers.
“Post pandemic, we have seen a strong demand for touch-less checkout as they are safer and much more hygienic which this innovation will directly address,” said Credit Libanais Deputy GM Randa Bdeir. “That is why we have partnered with Zwipe to pilot a new generation of Biometric Payment Cards that will deliver a significantly improved user experience and security for our retail clients.”
“The banking sector in Lebanon is demonstrating its appetite for innovation,” added Zwipe MENA Region GM Ramzi Saboury. “We are thrilled that Zwipe Pay ONE technology has been chosen and looking forward to supporting the pilot and commercial launch by Credit Libanais.”
Credit Libanais is now one of several Zwipe partners in the Middle East and North Africa. The company is already providing Pay ONE services for NymCard, Inkript, and Que Processing Services.
