One of Latin America’s biggest telecommunications has brands has opted for a new digital onboarding solution from IDEMIA.
Called Movistar Chile, the company is a subsidiary of Telefónica, one of the world’s biggest privately owned telecoms. And in a bid to digitize its services, Movistar is now going to take advantage of IDEMIA’s renowned facial recognition technology as well as digital signature technology to enroll new customer in retail stores. The technologies will be leveraged through a mobile app designed for use by Movistar Chile sales associates.
In a statement announcing the contract, Telefónica Chile Digital Process Transformation Sub-Manager Enrique Gonzalo Berrocal Anrique noted that IDEMIA is his company’s first ever South American partner for digital identity, calling it a “best-in-class firm”.
“Now we can market the best digital shopping experience backed by watertight digital identity security and involving paperless, frictionless and intuitive customer sign-up procedures,” he said.
The contract is an extension of an already existing partnership with Movistar Chile’s parent company, with IDEMIA having previously provided Telefónica with SIM and eSIM solutions. And it’s another indication of IDEMIA’s high profile in the global digital identity industry.
