Kuwait has achieved a significant milestone in its national biometric fingerprinting initiative, with 98 percent of its citizens now having completed the process. The high compliance rate highlights the nation’s commitment to improving security and efficiency across various government services.
As of November 21, 2024, only 20,085 Kuwaiti citizens remain to complete the biometric fingerprinting process. In contrast, the compliance rate among expatriates residing in Kuwait stands at 87 percent, indicating a gap in registration between citizens and non-citizens. The system has already proven its effectiveness, as reports indicate that the mandatory biometric fingerprinting has aided authorities in apprehending hundreds of individuals wanted for various crimes.
The biometric fingerprinting program is nearing full compliance, signaling Kuwait’s progress toward comprehensive registration of its population. This is part of a broader effort to modernize administrative processes, enhance security measures, and streamline government services. Recently, Kuwait’s Civil Service Commission (CSC) has expanded the use of biometric verification by mandating biometric attendance tracking systems for government employees during official working hours, demonstrating the growing integration of biometric technology in public sector operations.
