KABN Announces Cloud-Based Biometric Authentication

Canadian digital identity verification company The KABN Network has announced that its cloud-based biometric authentication solutions are now available on Liquid Avatar, its digital ID management platform. This means that Liquid Avatar users will now be able to take advantage of the additional layer of identity verification security that biometrics provide independent of their device.

Biometric authentication has grown in popularity over the past several years, with the COVID-19 outbreak perhaps leading to an even greater rate of adoption in some markets that are traditionally slower to adapt to newer technologies. With lockdown and social distancing measures put into place to control the spread of the virus, more people are spending time online for work, education, shopping, and other needs. This has led to a growth in the requirement for secure, remote authentication methods beyond outmoded ones like PIN/Password, as a rise in cybercrime activity has accompanied the rise in online traffic.

“With more traditional services, like healthcare, education, verified purchasing and government services expanding online, we developed Liquid Avatar to allow users to use their verified identity to share what they want, when they want and with whom they want in an easy to use visually-enabled platform,” said David Lucatch, CEO KABN North America. “Our goal is to reduce and, in some cases, eliminate the need to remember passwords or to present physical credentials in an ever expanding digital landscape,” he added. “We hope to empower users to seamlessly manage their digital lives as easily and effectively as they do conventionally.”

Liquid Avatar also has a Self Sovereign Identity management service, which allows users to manage and customize credentials using icons that can make it easier to manage multiple online identities.

KABN also announced that sometime in the first quarter of 2021 it will be adding a Guardianship Service to Liquid Avatar that will allow users to authorize a secondary “guardian” for access to biometric data. This feature could be ideal for parents who wish to have authorization over the online activities of their children while also protecting them from potential fraudsters.
