Jumio has announced its official support for the American Gaming Association’s Responsible Gaming Education Month, an effort aimed at making online gambling safer.
For its part, Jumio is working to leverage its selfie-based identity verification technology for age verification, offering gaming operators tools that allow them to automate such processes and keep minors off of their platforms.
With Jumio’s technology, a gaming operator can implement a registration process in which an end user is prompted to upload a selfie and photos of their photo ID. Computer vision technology can confirm the date of birth on the ID, and facial recognition can match the ID to the user, thereby verifying that the user is of age for the gaming platform.
Jumio has so far obtained licenses and accreditations allowing it to offer its solutions to online gaming and betting operators across 15 states, and continues to pursue more such clearances. It’s also working to deliver these solutions abroad, having established a partnership earlier this year with Italy-based gambling operator Sisal, which operates across its home country as well as Morocco and Turkey.
Sisal uses Jumio’s technology both for onboarding and to authenticate users when they collect their winnings, leveraging the tech to fight fraud; and the company says it has cut the time needed for identity verification by about 80 percent.
“We have a long history in the market and are proud to work with 9 of the 10 largest global gaming providers,” asserted Jumio’s Head of Gaming, Emeka Ezeyi. “The pursuit of U.S. gaming licenses is a new and exciting chapter in our journey to help gaming operators around the world know and trust their players online.”
Further illustrating Jumio’s domain expertise, the company has published an online guide to “Responsible Gaming Trends Around the World“, available for download through its website.
