Jumio is hoping to make inroads in the public sector after forming a strategic partnership with Copper River IT. Copper River is best known for providing network and support services for educational institutions and other public organizations, and will be integrating Jumio’s identity verification technology and KYX Platform to improve the onboarding experience for end users.
Copper River is wholly owned and operated by the Native Village of Eyak, which is itself a federally recognized tribal government. The company has completed the SBA 8(a) Program and been listed as a disadvantaged small business, which gives Copper River some procurement advantages in its dealings with federal agencies. In that regard, Copper River has existing relationships with the Department of Transportation, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Homeland Security, and with local organizations like DC.gov, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, and the County of Fairfax in Virginia.
The partnership with Jumio will allow Copper River to provide those clients with streamlined online and remote onboarding capabilities to facilitate their digital transformations. Jumio’s KYX Platform uses face and document recognition to match a selfie to the image on a photo ID, helping to prevent fraud while allowing organizations to comply with a slew of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and data protection regulations.
“We’re helping our enterprise customers embrace digital transformation while deriving maximum value from their current network infrastructure investment,” said Copper River President Bill Halladay. “This partnership enables us to provide essential identity proofing services that help mitigate fraud, reduce compliance risk and enhance the organization’s security reputation — all within an intuitive user experience.”
“The core mission of any public sector organization is to protect public well-being and deliver services to citizens and stakeholders, while carefully stewarding taxpayers’ dollars,” added Jumio CRO Dean Hickman-Smith. “This starts with reliably establishing the digital identities of these remote users to ensure that they are who they claim to be.”
Jumio recently augmented its KYX platform with passive liveness technology from iProov. The company also brought in $150 million in a funding round that closed in March.
