Jumio Appoints Mark Lorion as Chief Executive Officer

Jumio, the Sunnyvale, California-based identity verification and compliance platform, has appointed Mark Lorion as its new chief executive officer. Lorion succeeds Bala Kumar, who has served as president and interim CEO since the start of 2026 and will continue as president and chief product & technology officer.

Lorion most recently served as CEO of Tempo Software, an enterprise work management platform, where he grew annual recurring revenue by nearly 400 percent and transformed the company from a single-product operation into an integrated enterprise software platform. He previously held leadership positions at several cybersecurity and enterprise software companies, including chief operating officer at Digital.ai and Arxan Technologies, as well as president and general manager at Apperian.

Kumar, who stepped into the interim CEO role earlier this year following a leadership transition, said Lorion brings a strong combination of operational discipline and customer focus suited to the company’s next phase of growth. Jumio said Kumar will continue as president and chief product & technology officer.

Jumio provides AI-powered identity intelligence and compliance solutions used by financial services firms, online marketplaces, sharing economy platforms, and other regulated industries to onboard customers and detect fraud. The company’s platform uses biometric authentication, document verification, liveness detection, and AI-driven automation to process identity checks across more than 200 countries and territories.

The appointment comes as the identity verification sector faces growing demand driven by tightening global regulations around know-your-customer (KYC) and anti-money laundering (AML) requirements, alongside the increasing sophistication of AI-generated deepfakes and synthetic identities targeting remote onboarding workflows. Vendors across the space have been investing in advanced liveness detection and document fraud analysis to counter these emerging threats.

Jumio says it has processed more than one billion transactions across its platform to date. The CEO transition follows Jumio’s leadership change at the beginning of 2026, when previous CEO Robert Prigge departed. Kumar stepped in as interim CEO before the company named Lorion as permanent CEO, citing his enterprise SaaS scaling experience and cybersecurity background.
