A seasoned financial officer and former Wall Street executive has become the latest member of Jumio‘s executive team. The biometric identity verification specialist has named Susan Walker as its new Chief Financial Officer.
Walker comes to the company from a previous position as CFO of Digital Guardian, a role she had performed since June of 2019. Before that, she also held CFO roles with Telestream (from December of 2017) and Avention (2015 to 2017).
From August of 2011 to March of 2015, Walker served as the VP of Finance & Corporate Strategy for Aspen Aerogels, an insulation maker serving the energy sector. There, she managed an $83 million IPO in the spring of 2014, a feat that Jumio highlighted in its announcement of her appointment.
Walker has also served as Director of Investor Relations and then Americas CFO for Novell (between 2006 and 2011), and she was a VP at J.P. Morgan from 1997 to 2001.
“Jumio is entering a new phase of growth and development and we are delighted to welcome Susan at such a critical moment in the company’s evolution,” commented Jumio CEO Robert Prigge. “Susan’s experience in leading financial strategy in scaling technology organizations will support our high-velocity goals.”
On that note, Jumio recently reported year-over-year sales growth of 140 percent for the first quarter of 2022, a remarkable result in the wake of a Q4 update in which Jumio reported a 130 percent sales uptick. The company has benefitted from intensifying interest in selfie-based remote onboarding technology in which an end user’s identity can be verified by matching their face to images of their official identity documents.
“Jumio is a leader in the identity market with well-established technology, and I see extreme value in the company’s mission to eradicate online fraud,” commented Walker. “I am so proud to join at a time when the company is experiencing record growth and look forward to partnering with a deep bench of talented leaders and innovators.”
In addition to building its client base, Jumio has also been investing in its executive leadership. The news of Walker’s appointment comes after Jumio’s announcement of a new Chief Technology Officer in April and a new MENA-focused Sales Leader in March.
