The Jumeirah Group is teaming up with Incode Technologies to bring digital transformation to the hospitality industry. Jumeirah offers luxury hotel and hospitality services under the Dubai Holding umbrella, while Incode is best known for its biometric authentication and identity verification solutions.
The new arrangement will eliminate friction at hotel checkpoints to deliver a more streamlined guest experience. Jumeirah’s platform will automatically create a digital Jumeirah One profile for each guest based on their payment and identity information. Incode’s tech will then allow guests to link those profiles to their secure facial biometrics.
From there, Jumeirah hotels will be able to use facial recognition to provide more personalized services for their customers. That begins with an expedited check-in process that can be completed en route to the hotel, and continues at the venue itself with contactless payments that use biometrics to charge hotel services to someone’s account. In doing so, the platform will allow people to go to the hotel restaurant without needing to bring a payment card.
Facial recognition can also bring similar benefits to other aspects of the customer journey. For example, facial recognition can be integrated into the booking process on Jumeirah’s website, or used to access other amenities and services.
“Time is precious for our guests and so we constantly look at ways in which to make their experience as seamless as possible,” said Jumeirah Group Brand and Design SVP Pedro Deakin. “With our new partnership, we will leverage personal recognition and connectivity so that our in-house systems can tailor the guest experience based on purchasing behaviour and stored personal preferences, building trust and strengthening connections.”
The news comes only days after Incode announced that it would be looking to grow its business after hiring a new VP of Business Development. The company raised $25 million in Series A funding in March of 2021, and has previously argued that biometrics can improve the guest experience in event and entertainment spaces. On that front, Dubai Holding recently revealed that it has partnered with PopID to bring biometric payments to some of its larger venues.
