“Our F.CODE solution is recognized as a reliable security system based on biometrics.”
JCB’s biometric cards received two prizes during the Cards and Electronic Payments International Asia (CEPI) Summit and Awards, taking home Best Security Initiative and Best NFC Security Initiative at the 5th annual conference at the end of 2018. The cards are based on the F.Code fingerprint technology provided through a partnership with IDEMIA, and were first launched through a pilot program in Japan in the spring of 2018.
“These two awards demonstrate that our partnership with JCB is working perfectly,” said Patrice Meilland, the VP of IDEMIA’s Powered Cards Business Line. “Our F.CODE solution is recognized as a reliable security system based on biometrics.”
The biometric card pilot was first announced in 2017. IDEMIA’S award-winning F.Code solution is designed to replace PIN codes with fingerprint recognition technology, a move intended to improve convenience and security for contactless transactions. The two companies have since collaborated on other projects, so the pair of CEPI awards should only solidify the business relationship between IDEMIA and JCB moving forward.
