“Thanks to MUFG Bank’s embrace of Nok Nok Labs’ S3 Authentication Suite, customers can now access mobile services using biometric authentication on their Android and iOS devices.”
Japan’s largest bank is now offering online customers enhanced authentication security thanks to Nok Nok Labs and its partner Hitachi.
Thanks to MUFG Bank’s embrace of Nok Nok Labs’ S3 Authentication Suite, customers can now access mobile services using biometric authentication on their Android and iOS devices. Not only does this increase overall security for digital sessions, but it also helps to eliminate the new “F-word” in banking – “friction”.
Elaborating on the deployment in a statement, Hitachi Financial Information Systems 1st Division GM Nobuo Nagaarashi said it’s the product of a combination of “Hitachi’s abundant system development capabilities and know-how in the financial system and security related fields, and Nok Nok’s globally deployed and proven FIDO certified products”.
Nagaarashi also affirmed Hitachi’s commitment to the FIDO Alliance’s increasingly impactful authentication standards, saying “we will continue to expand FIDO compliant authentication services and their applications to financial institutions and other various industries.”
News of the deployment arrives after last month’s announcement that SoftBank, one of Japan’s major telecoms, had adopted the S3 Authentication Suite, suggesting that Nok Nok Labs is enjoying a growing presence in the Japan market.
