With sports tournaments, concerts, film releases and other major events now being cancelled or postponed due to the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic, the organizers of ISC West have already landed on a new date for the major security industry event. It’s now slated to run from July 20 to 22.
“We at ISC West want to express our concern for everyone impact by the COVID-19 coronavirus,” organizers said in a statement announcing the new dates. The statement went on to assert that the selection of the new scheduled dates in July was based on “close monitoring of ongoing developments with the virus, recent reports from public health officials and extensive consultation with our partners in the global security community”.
ISC West was originally scheduled to run from March 17 to 20. Its postponement followed cancellations of other important industry events in which biometric technology was expected to feature heavily, including the annual Mobile World Congress Barcelona, and the healthcare IT-focused HIMSS conference.
Reed Exhibitions, which organizes ISC West along with a number of other major global conferences, has otherwise indicated a plan for long-term growth with its recent acquisition of the transportation-focused ITS World Congress and Annual Meetings. Meanwhile, its other flagship security conference, ISC East, remains scheduled for November 18 to 19 in New York City.
As for ISC West, with its new July dates, the event is still slated to be held at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas.
