Secure identity solutions provider HID Global has announced that it is sponsoring two Mission 500 events at the ISC West International Security Conference and Exhibition currently underway in Las Vegas. Mission 500 is a cooperative initiative undertaken by the security industry to provide charitable aid to children and communities in crisis; it’s a partnership with the World Vision charity organization.
The first charity event will be hosted by HID. The plan is to have volunteers load up backpacks with school supplies, to be donated to kids at a nearby Title One school. The other event is the Security 5k Run/2k Walk on Thursday, which will raise money for aid – clothing, food, education – for children and families in need in the US, with additional support going to ongoing projects in Tanzania and India.
Of course, HID has other business going on at ISC West as well. The company is keen to show off its HID Mobile Access system as well as its ActivID Tap Authentication for Microsoft service, which it’s also promoting at the HIMSS conference. HID is also keen to demonstrate the progress it has made on the biometrics front since acquiring Lumidigm a year ago – something that HID VP Paul Butler recently spoke to us about with a lot of enthusiasm. ISC West attendees will have a chance to see for themselves as HID representatives show off their technology throughout the conference – in between their philanthropic activities, of course.
