ISC West, one of the biggest annual events in the security industry, has been postponed due to concerns about the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
The event was initially scheduled for March 17 to 20, but will now be held in July, with specific dates to be announced. The venue remains the Sands Expo Convention Center in Las Vegas.
“This is not a decision we have taken lightly; our customers, partners and staff have worked diligently to create an ISC West experience for the industry across converged security innovations, public safety best practices and strong community collaboration,” explained Reed Exhibitions’ Will Wise, who oversees the event, in a statement. “It is imperative that we maintain our commitment to prioritize the health and safety of everyone involved with ISC West.”
The postponement comes after numerous precautionary efforts on the part of ISC West organizers to minimize the risk of COVID-19’s spread during the event. It also arrives after the cancellation of other major industry events at which biometric technology was poised to play a prominent role, including Mobile World Congress Barcelona and HIMSS.
Reed Exhibitions says that ISC West’s sister event, ISC East, is still slated to take place from November 18 to 19 at the Javits Center in New York City. In the meantime, the organization will work with its Premier Sponsor, the SIA, to establish alternative “ways to connect, collaborate and keep our world moving during this difficult period,” the organization said.
