Iris ID has issued a new white paper on the exciting opportunities emerging in healthcare through biometric technology – and, of course, iris recognition in particular.
It’s a timely analysis. As the report notes, multiple industry reports have predicted that the global healthcare biometrics market will see considerable growth over the next several years; Credence Market Research, for example, lays out a trajectory from a market value of $2.1 billion in 2016 to about $14 billion in 2025.
There is also a pressing need for biometric solutions in the US, where the ongoing opioid epidemic is wreaking havoc thanks in part to a lack of effective safeguards for accessing narcotics. Biometrics can play a critical role in fighting this problem by reliably linking prescriptions to patients – and prescribers.

That isn’t the only area where biometrics can be applied to improve healthcare systems. Iris ID’s report delves into applications in pharmaceutical production, access control, and patient identification in particular; and it goes on to underscore the advantages of iris scanning technology in particular, which is highly reliable and does not require physical contact with scanners.
The biometrics revolution has already delivered all kinds of transformative change in areas like airport security and mobile devices, and now it’s starting to really make an impact in the world of healthcare. Iris ID’s white paper offers an in-depth look at how and why that’s happening.
