“The Mentalix solution will make it easier – and faster – for local officials to know who is being booked and released from their facilities.” – Mohammed Murad, Vice President Global Sales and Business Development, Iris ID
Iris ID‘s iris biometrics technology is now fully integrated into Mentalix’s Fed Submit platform.
The companies’ partnership was first announced earlier this year. Fed Submit is a live scan platform used by law enforcement and civilian agencies across the US to access the FBI’s biometric databases; the integration of Iris ID’s iCAM R100 facial and iris scanning cameras into the platform thus enables the reliable and cost effective submission of facial and iris biometrics via the platform.
In a statement announcing the integration, Mentalix CTO Dale Remmers testified to the utility of Iris ID’s technology for law enforcement officials and other authorities performing background checks. “They can know within a few minutes if the suspect arrested for public intoxication has any felony warrants in other states,” he said. Remmers added later that the technology can also help law enforcement officials to authenticate suspects who are being released from jail.
“Our iCAM R100 cameras add a valuable dimension to the Fed Submit kiosks,” said Mohammed Murad, Vice President Global Sales and Business Development, Iris ID. “The Mentalix solution will make it easier – and faster – for local officials to know who is being booked and released from their facilities.”
The integration is well-timed. Samsung has been helping to popularize iris scanning technology in the consumer market with its latest Galaxy smartphones; meanwhile, interest in biometric identification technologies among law enforcement agencies continues to escalate. As familiarity with the modality encourages further use, Iris ID’s technology could prove highly useful to authorities working with Mentalix’s Fed Submit.
