Iris ID Tech Brings Contactless Benefits to Biometric Punch Clock

Workforce management solutions provider SimplyWork is bringing biometric technology to its time and attendance punch clocks, care of Iris ID.

More specifically, SimplyWork’s new punch clocks feature Iris ID’s IrisAccess iCAM R100 camera, allowing employees to clock in and out for work with a simple iris scan. Capable of scanning individuals within a range of 11″ to 15″, the devices offers an accurate, fast, and hands-free means of tracking wage earners.

In a statement announcing the collaboration, Iris ID VP Mohammed Murad asserted that the biometric technology can powerfully counteract the fraudulent practice of ‘buddy punching’, which “can be a significant drain on any business’s bottom line.” It’s an argument often put forward by the growing number of firms offering biometric time and attendance tracking solutions, but in its statement Iris ID also highlighted the unique benefits of iris recognition’s contactless scanning in areas like “agriculture, construction, food service and others where other biometric technology may be less accurate due to dirt and grease on employees’ hands.”

For SimplyWork’s part, CEO Mike Van Nuland lauded the sophistication of Iris ID’s technology in comparison to other biometric options explored by his firm, asserting, “Iris biometrics were head and shoulders above the others at accurately identifying people.”
