Two of the industry’s most high-profile biometric solutions have now combined in one multimodal handheld device.
The integration comprises Iris ID‘s iCAM M300 handheld with Integrated Biometrics‘ Sherlock fingerprint scanner. The latter can now snap onto the iCAM M300, forming one lightweight mobile unit.
Integrated Biometrics’ FBI-certified Sherlock fingerprint scanner has built a solid reputation in the law enforcement market in particular over the last several years. It’s FAP 45 certified and can operate in direct sunlight and with dusty or dirty fingers, of which it can scan two at a time.
Iris ID’s iCAM M300, meanwhile, is aimed at a number of applications in law enforcement, national ID, access control, and other areas. It’s capable of not only scanning irises but also faces and ePassports (via an MRZ reader); and it sports NFC, Bluetooth, wifi, and 4G connectivity. The device won in the mobile app category of SIA’s New Product Showcase in 2018’s ISC West exhibition.
“Equipped with Sherlock, the iCAM M300 offers access to the three leading modes of biometric authentication – iris, fingerprint and facial – in a lightweight unit that performs virtually anywhere,” commented Iris ID VP Mohammed Murad in a statement announcing the collaboration. “Sherlock integration is a tremendous enhancement to the growing Iris ID line of biometric authentication solutions.”
