During last week’s iCPS Symposium, Iris ID and Electoral Services International (ESI) announced that the former’s iCAM T10 and IrisAccelerator solutions are now integrated with the latter’s Biometric Voter Registration (BVR).
Iris ID, formerly the Iris Technology Division of LG Electronics, will be providing its biometric platform to allow for enrollment in the voter registration process. ESI provides mission critical voter services and technology for over 66 countries. Those clients can now benefit from the assurance of iris biometrics when registering voters.
ESI’s president, Dwight Casson, stated in a press release that a large part of the decision to choose iris recognition had to do with its very low failure to enroll rate.
“We are delighted to be associated with Iris ID in the expansion of our BVR capabilities,” said Casson. “This definitely enhances our offerings to our clients in this all important technology. It has been proven that iris recognition provides lowest failure to enroll (FTE), where other biometric technologies reach more than 5%. Iris is a perfect fit where 70% of the population is involved in manual labor.”
Charles Koo, president and CEO of Iris ID expressed his company’s excitement in regards to the integration. “This is a key milestone for our identification technology; iris recognition is a perfect solution for providing a strong identity voter registration process. As we did with other identity dependent applications for major national identity, we are pleased to be first in bringing iris recognition biometrics to a host of secure identity dependent applications with the ESI BVR solution.”
The application of Iris ID’s biometric technology stretches beyond enrollment for biometric voting. As part of November’s Biometric Border Control Month, the company was featured in our list of airport security deployments as we took a look at how iris recognition is making Qatar’s international airport more secure, convenient, accessible and easy to manage.
