ISC West 2019: Ipsidy Teams with RemoteLock On Selfie-Based Biometric Access Control

Ipsidy is joining forces with access control specialist RemoteLock to bring selfie-based biometric authentication to the latter’s cloud-based remote lock platform.

Their combined solution will be available to users of the RemoteLock EdgeState cloud platform, allowing authorized users to gain access to entry points using the Ipsidy Access facial recognition system. In practice, that means that when an authorized user walks up to a locked door, a Bluetooth beacon can detect that they are in range for Ipsidy-based authentication, so they need only to take a selfie using Ipsidy’s app, and the door will unlock.

Any business or facility operator can sign up visitors and guests using Ipsidy’s biometric app, allowing for a flexible, sophisticated access control system that leverages the convenience of end users’ smartphones.

Commenting on the collaboration in a statement, Ipsidy CEO Philip Beck called the joint solution “the next generation of cloud-based facial biometric access management”, adding, “Security resellers and integrators can offer the combined solution that provides the security, control and certainty for physical access management, that is cost effective for their clients and easy to deploy and use.”

The companies are aiming to launch their joint solution in the middle of this year, but in the meantime they are showcasing it at this week’s ISC West security conference in Las Vegas, which runs from April 10th to 12th.
