Selfie biometrics specialist Ipsidy is undergoing a major corporate overhaul, with new leadership, a new headquarters, and a new name.
The company is rebranding as authID.ai, and is moving its official headquarters from Long Beach, New York, to Denver, Colorado. It’s also welcoming a new CEO in Tom Thimot and a new President and CTO in Tripp Smith.
“During the last 12 months, we have made strategic investments in our product, our channel partners, and our delivery model, all of which combined to establish our Company as a substantive player in identity authentication,” explained the company’s previous CEO and current Chairman, Phillip Kumnick. “In preparation for the next stage of significant growth and opportunity, authID.ai is pleased to announce Tom Thimot as CEO, and Tripp Smith as President and CTO. Tom and Tripp will take the management reins from Philip Broenniman and me, allowing us both to focus on our roles on the Board of Directors.”
Thimot has held multiple chief executive positions in his career, most recently with Socure, another specialist in selfie-based biometric onboarding technology, where he served as CEO from February of 2018 to December of 2020. Other previous CEO positions were held with Clarity Insights, CaseCentral, and GoRemote.
Tripp Smith also spent some time with Socure, acting as a consulting advisor to the company from January of 2020 to January of 2021. Before that, he spent nine years with Clarity Insights, where he started as a consultant in 2011 and eventually became Chief Technology Officer in late 2015. He has also provided consulting services for HP and Knightsbridge Solutions.
In addition to these senior executive appointments, authID.ai has announced several new board members: Standard Chartered Bank CIO Dr. Michael Gorriz, former PwC executive Michael Koehneman, Progress Partners Managing Director Sanjay Puri, and Temenos President Jacqueline White. Tom Thimot has also been named to the board.
Going forward, the rebranded company will be promoting its identity-as-a-service AI platform as a solution that will enable any organization to instantly “Recognise Your Customer” thanks to its biometric technology. It’s also opening an “AI Center of Excellence” in Denver.
In accordance with the rebrand, the company’s stock ticker will change from “IDTY” to “AUID” starting July 13, 2021.
