iProov is once again offering metrics tracking the boom in selfie-based identity verification via its latest corporate update.
The most striking metrics concern daily numbers of online identity verifications using iProov’s platform. The company says that during a single 10-day period in 2021, it saw more online verifications than it did during all of 2020. iProov’s technology was also used to perform over a million identity verifications in a single day “several times throughout the year,” the company said in a statement.
Naturally, this activity has also translated into encouraging business metrics for iProov. The company says that its revenues for 2021 have tripled compared to the previous year; and to serve increased customer demand it has boosted its staff by 64 percent between December of 2020 and December of this year.
The update comes after iProov reported a 15-fold increase in the number of end users being identified through its technology in the first half of this year.
In his own commentary, iProov founder and CEO Andrew Bud gestured to the broader societal changes driving demand for secure online identity verification as digital transformation accelerates across a number of sectors.
“iProov is giving people access to what is quickly becoming a basic human right: the ability to assert your identity online safely, securely and ubiquitously, with your privacy protected,” he said. “That higher mission is what drives everyone at iProov to work in such a focused and productive way.”
Bud went on to note that 2021 has been “a profitable year” for the company, concluding with “a very strong and robust cash position”.
iProov’s update also highlighted a number of specific business developments over the course of the year, including the Australian Tax Office’s selection of iProov’s liveness detection technology to help secure its myGovID platform and Jumio’s integration of the technology into its KYX onboarding solution. Most recently, the Eurostar rail service between the United Kingdom and France started trialing a biometric passenger processing system using iProov’s biometric technology.
