A Caribbean identity start-up is partnering with iProov to strengthen its new digital identity solution. Ignition-Innovation is based in Trinidad & Tobago, and will specifically be taking advantage of iProov’s Genuine Presence Assurance and Live Assurance tech.
Both products will be integrated into the TruMeID digital identity platform for users in Trinidad & Tobago. Like other digital identity platforms, TruMeID is designed to make it easier for people to engage with businesses and government agencies online, using facial biometrics to ensure that a real person is present for each interaction.
iProov’s tech will provide that crucial layer of liveness detection. With it, TruMeID users will be able to confirm their identities with a simple selfie. iProov’s solution will match a new image to the photo on an identity document to verify that the person is in fact who they claim to be, and perform a liveness check to ensure that that person is present, and is not an imposter with a photo or a mask. The solution also takes the time of the scan into account to guard against injection attacks.
“Governments around the world are all facing the same challenge–how to provide citizen access to more digital services when cyber criminals are ramping up their tactics and intensity,” said iProov CEO and Founder Andrew Bud. “Our technology plays a major role in helping governments keep people and data safe in light of this growing threat.”
Ignition-Innovation is hoping that a secure and convenient digital identity solution like TruMeID will kickstart the local economy and make online services more readily available to a larger number of people. In the meantime, iProov’s liveness solution was listed as an eIDAS Qualified Trust Service in Europe earlier this year, while the company itself has tried to raise its international profile with the creation of a new Global Partner Program. The company also provided liveness services for Thailand’s Finema at the end of May.
