iProov’s New Head of Americas Brings Entrepreneurial Experience, Government Connections

iProov has named its latest Senior Vice President, appointing Ajay Amlani as its new Head of Americas. Amlani was a co-founder of the biometric passenger screening service CLEAR, and the founder of YOU Technology, a mobile-focused identity and loyalty platform that was purchased by The Kroger Company in 2014. More recently, he served as an SVP of IDEMIA from 2019 to 2021, and as a Chief Strategy Officer for Credence ID.

Importantly, Amlani brings a unique history of consulting experience with the United States government. In 2003, he signed on as a White House Fellow and Senior Policy Advisor to Secretary Thomas J. Ridge at the Department of Homeland Security, where he helped to lead biometric deployments and programs including REAL ID and the no-fly lists.

Later, from 2017 to 2019, Amlani helped to found the Department of Defense’s Silicon Valley-based Defense Innovation Unit, and proceeded to serve as its CEO in Residence and Director of Commercial Engagement.

In announcing his appointment, iProov CEO Andrew Bud called Amlani “a respected and accomplished identity technology expert, with deep knowledge of cybersecurity across both the government and private sectors,” adding, “Ajay will drive the adoption of iProov’s face biometric technology as the premier way to verify and authenticate consumers in the region against the backdrop of increasing cyberattacks and identity theft.”

While Amlani will be promoting iProov’s Genuine Presence Assurance and Liveness Assurance solutions in North, Central, and South America, the company will also be ramping up its efforts overseas as it pursues opportunities pertaining to the European Union’s digital identity programs, having recently received eIDAS Level of Assurance High certification.
