iProov has partnered with Estonia-based Cybernetica on a digital identity solution based on multi-factor authentication.
The solution will leverage iProov’s Biometric Solution Suite together with Cybernetica’s Splitkey, a cryptographic system for mobile transactions that is designed to secure legally binding e-signatures. The aim is to enable the use of any smart device for digital signing and authentication while offering governments and organizations a high levels of assurance that those performing the transactions are who they claim to be.
The companies’ joint solution will be targeted at the government and financial services sectors in the EMEA, LATAM, and APAC regions.
“Combining Cybernetica’s Splitkey technology with iProov’s patented Biometric Solution Suite really strengthens our offering by adding authentication and digital signing to produce a powerful and extremely robust and secure digital identity solution for remote enrolment that not only gives us the opportunity to grow our presence in existing markets but offers the chance to open up new markets in new regions,” explained Cybernetica’s Head of Digital Identity Technologies, Michael Buckland.
iProov is well-known for the face biometrics technology underlying its Biometric Solution Suite. The company recently saw a particularly high-profile deployment of its tech in London, where its facial recognition is being used in an expedited passenger screening system for the Eurostar rail service between the United Kingdom and France.
Cybernetica’s Splitkey, meanwhile, is designed to store an end user’s private keys both on the user’s smart device and on a remote server protected by a Hardware Security Module. The solution supports digital document signing in accordance with the European Union’s eIDAS regulation.
