iProov has combined its biometric authentication and liveness detection technologies into one package, the company has announced. The integrated solution combines iProov’s Genuine Presence Assurance and its Liveness Assurance offerings.
Genuine Presence Assurance is a biometric authentication system that uses facial recognition to verify the presence of an online user. The system is able to match the user to a registered identity document while ensuring that they are truly interacting with a given device, and are not a photo- or video-based artefact as part of a spoofing attempt.
Liveness Assurance, meanwhile, is designed to bring passive liveness detection to more frequent, lower-risk online transactions. That having been said, the solution has attained Level 1 and Level 2 compliance in iBeta’s Presentation Attack Detection evaluation program.
iProov’s integration of the two solutions means that Genuine Presence Assurance can be used in a highly sensitive scenario such as opening a bank account, for example, while Liveness Assurance could come into play for subsequent sign-ins and everyday transactions.
“Organizations need to balance security, usability, and cost when choosing the right biometric authentication provider,” explained iProov CEO Andrew Bud, adding later, “One platform for every level of authentication brings three key benefits: a consistent user experience, technical simplicity, and peace of mind, knowing that every level of security is at your finger-tips.”
The integrated solution’s announcement comes after iProov announced it was opening a ‘Security Operations Centre‘ to look out for large-scale biometric attacks about a month ago.
