“Liveness detection is an area of intensifying focus for many companies in the biometrics industry as concern over presentation attacks – or ‘spoofing’ – continues to grow.”
IntelliVision has taken an important step forward in enhancing the security of its facial recognition technology, announcing that it has now integrated liveness detection in its solution.
In a statement announcing the development, the San Jose-based firm did not explain the mechanism underlying its new anti-spoofing capability, but it did indicate that the liveness detection system can be adjusted depending on the security needs of a given situation. “The system can be configured for fast secure recognition, or highly secure recognition at a slightly slower speed,” the company asserted.
Liveness detection is an area of intensifying focus for many companies in the biometrics industry as concern over presentation attacks – or “spoofing” – continues to grow. Standards and testing organizations are also taking notice, with one of the most renowned evaluation labs, iBeta, having launched a Presentation Attack Detection Certification test last spring.
IntelliVision’s implementation of liveness detection is perhaps the biggest development for its facial recognition solution since it made it available as a cloud-based service last summer. The solution can also be deployed on-premise or in cameras with multi-core ARM chips, and will soon launch in NSC’s ELAN touch panels.
