Integrated Operations Allies with Planix to Deliver Biometric Health Screening Solutions

Integrated Operations is expanding its Viral Defense portfolio through a new partnership with Finland’s Planix Group Oy. The Viral Defense portfolio provides customers with a range of disinfectant options, including misting booths and portable misting systems.

The expanded portfolio, meanwhile, will introduce thermal screening and mask detection products designed to mitigate the threat of COVID-19. The goal is to facilitate the safe return to public spaces in the midst of the pandemic.

To that end, the Automatic Fever Measurement System can simultaneously take the temperatures of five people at a distance of six feet, making it well-suited to larger venues with a lot of traffic. The Automated Mask Wearing Detection System, on the other hand, watches to make sure that people are indeed covering their faces. The solution can be integrated into a venue’s existing CCTV setup, and can be paired with facial recognition for additional security. However, the default version does not use biometric identification in order to preserve people’s privacy.

Integrated Operations and Planix will also offer fingerprint, iris, and palm recognition systems, all of which can be used for biometric access control. The two companies are hoping that the partnership will give them both access to new markets, with Integrated acting as Planix’s representative in North America and Planix returning the favor in Europe.

“We have been working with colleagues around the globe to develop technologies to help mitigate the spread of viruses, manage new infections, and provide cleaner, less germ-ridden environments,” added Integrated Operations Founder and President Nick Jaksa. “We understand that global pandemics may become part of a new normal, and these need to be combatted with prevention and safety.”

Of course, Integrated Operations and Planix are not the only companies offering temperature and mask detection during the pandemic. Thales is currently testing new temperature tech with NHS Scotland, while RealNetworks recently released a free mask detection app with SAFR technology. SAFR is one of several companies that has updated its facial recognition algorithm to better identify people whose faces are covered.
