Today, biometric technology developer Integrated Biometrics introduced its newest offering: the Columbo Desktop FAP PIV 30 Scanner. The Columbo Desktop is a fingerprint scanner that is optimized for tablets, smartphones and PCs, and is intended for use in military, border control, law enforcement, financial and healthcare applications. The device is already being sold to its target vertical markets.
Steve Thies, Integrated Biometrics’ CEO, stated in a press release: “The Columbo Desktop has the largest area platen for a single finger scanner that the FBI recognizes. This particular size scanner is rare in the marketplace and is designed to perform at the highest level with tablets, smartphones and PCs.”
He continues: “Early sales are already underway with customers looking to use the Columbo Desktop for enrollment and verification activities for banking, law enforcement, and other commercial and government uses worldwide,”
The Columbo Desktop fits in well with the Integrated Biometrics product lineup, which is recognized for very small and low weight FBI-compliant fingerprint scanners. These qualities, along with its large area platen, make the Columbo Desktop particularly suitable for mobile applications.
The new fingerprint scanner boasts a full featured software development kit to make for easy integration. It is also durable, which is a must in mobile biometric applications serving military, border control and law enforcement verticals.
