Innovatrics has once again posted top marks in the NIST’s latest fingerprint evaluation. The company ranked first in the NIST’s MINEX III test earlier this year, and has managed to retain that position while posting a strong score in the separate but related PFT III exam.
The MINEX III evaluation determines whether or not a fingerprint recognition solution can generate and match templates that are interoperable with other fingerprint systems. The PFT III exam, on the other hand, looks at a solution’s capabilities with proprietary templates. Since the templates are proprietary, the developer can optimize them to match prints faster and more accurately when they are used with their own matching software.
For its part, Innovatrics placed second in the PFT III benchmark, which is based on a solution’s one-to-one matching abilities. The company believes that the results attest to the quality of its fingerprint recognition technology.
“The next generation of our fingerprint verification algorithm has been significantly improved by incorporating deep neural networks into the process,” said Innovatrics R&D Head Marian Beszedes.
“The performance of all our fingerprint algorithms, from extraction to matching, is consistently among the global elite,” added Innovatrics ABIS Business Unit Director Matus Kapusta. “Apart from our top-scoring fingerprint matcher and extractor, we are one of the few companies that offer NIST-benchmarked algorithms for facial and iris recognition in their ABIS.”
Innovatrics became one of only a handful of companies that have gone through NIST testing with three different biometric modalities after its iris recognition solution was evaluated earlier this year. Innovatrics’s facial recognition algorithm has also performed well in other independent evaluations like the DHS biometric technology rally. The company itself recently released a new enrollment app that is meant to be used alongside its Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) to streamline new user registration.
