Innovatrics Optimizes SmartFace for Linux and NVIDIA Jetson Systems

Innovatrics has taken steps to increase the appeal of its SmartFace facial recognition platform. To that end, the company has optimized the platform for the Linux operating system, and for edge devices that run on NVIDIA Jetson technology.

The news makes SmartFace compatible with all of the major operating systems, and will allow customers to use the solution with virtually any hardware setup. Innovatrics indicated that the Linux version is well-suited to large scale installations, and noted that it will be able to process data from more cameras on a smaller number of servers. The Jetson version, meanwhile, will enable on-device edge processing. It is compatible with most of the leading video management systems, and has smaller computational footprint to further reduce costs for users.

SmartFace itself can be used for a wide range of identity and surveillance applications, including touchless access control. The system is robust enough to identify people wearing masks, and can ensure that those masks are being worn properly. It also offers passive liveness detection on live video feeds, with technology that has cleared Level 2 in iBeta testing.

On the surveillance front, Innovatrics updated SmartFace in March to support pedestrian and body part detection. The solution can identify people on watchlists in real time, and is generally built to help organizations process large amounts of video footage more quickly.

According to Innovatrics, SmartFace can be deployed in a number of different industries, including retail, manufacturing, and healthcare. The Linux version can process data both on-premises and in the cloud, regardless of the organization’s system architecture.

Innovatrics is now one of several facial recognition providers that has optimized its technology for the NVIDIA Jetson platform. ID R&D updated its IDLive Face solution back in April, while CyberLink updated its own FaceMe engine earlier in the month.
