Innovatrics has launched a new facial recognition software development kit aimed at smart camera and edge device applications.
Dubbed the “SmartFace Embedded Toolkit”, the solution is designed to enable face detection, template extraction, and biometric matching on a given device, with liveness detection in place to detect any potential presentation attacks. And Innovatrics says it plans to add support for person and object detection later this year.
The company is pitching its biometric SDK for a wide range of potential applications, from access control terminals to smart glasses and other wearables. What’s more, the SmartFace Embedded Toolkit has a small footprint and is designed to optimize the performance of low-power devices and neural processing units (NPUs).
On that note, while it was built for the popular x86 and Arm CPU architectures, the SmartFace Embedded Toolkit also offers support for custom NPUs such as those offered by Ambarella, Blaize, Hailo, NXP, NVIDIA, and RockChip.
The solution has been announced alongside updated biometric enrolment software for Innovatrics ABIS, the company’s multimodal solution for civil, criminal justice, and border control applications.
Innovatrics ABIS’s civil enrolment process now starts with a face scan followed by a slap fingerprint scan, iris scan, and the collection of biographic information. Face scans can be performed with a USB or built-in camera, and fingerprints are automatically captured and segmented using real-time quality assessment algorithms, notifying the operator if a poor-quality or duplicate scan is detected. The system’s iris capture process can scan both eyes simultaneously.
The utility of Innovatrics ABIS is further extended via the company’s Android app, BioScriber Mobile, enabling in-the-field use.
