Slovakia-based biometric technology developer Innovatrics has announced the launch of its Automated Fingerprint Identification System.
The Innovatrics AFIS has been designed as a modular, scalable solution offering open architecture that allows a high degree of customization. This means it could be used in a wide range of potential applications, from border screening to national ID and election projects. In a statement announcing the platform, Innovatrics CTO Jan Lunter explained that “this new generation of AFIS offers freedom in choosing exactly the components an organization needs to develop the perfect identity management solution, leaving open the possibility for upgrades or changes in the future.”
The platform also happens to feature robust biometric technology. Last summer, Innovatrics claimed the title of the first company to pass the National Institute of Standards and Technology‘s MINEX III test, which assesses biometric matching capability with respect to government standards. The company’s technology has also attained full Personal Identity Verification compliance via its MINEX III testing.
It’s a highly accurate solution with a range of potential applications, and as such could be an appealing offering in the government and enterprise sectors.
